| General tips for installation: |
- Ensure the site has access to a strong 3G/4G/LTE wireless internet service.
- Avoid installing the wireless internet router/dongle inside of a metal enclosure, such as an electrical panel. This will block the signal.
- Avoid electrically noisy environments, such as high voltage power, switching power, and large plant equipment.
|
External antenna
If the wireless internet connection is weak, or the wireless internet router/dongle must be installed in a metal enclosure, an external antenna can help.

- Ensure the correct antenna is used, this will be specified in signal wavelength and decibels gain.
- Check the router/dongle and match the antenna connection correctly. Small USB dongles usually use TS9, larger routers usually use SMA male.
- Mount the antenna as high as possible and away from electrical noise such as high voltage power, switching power, and large plant equipment.

Other options
In some areas, the wireless internet service may not be adequate and an alternative connection to the internet must be used.
An ADSL connection is a common option for long-term installations. An ADSL router can provide a wired (Ethernet) or wireless connection for the NEX controller.
